About

Namaste! My name is Bigyesh Nepal and I sincerely thank you for visiting my blog. In this section, I would like to tell you something about me and the reason for creating this blog.

I was born in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal where my family has been living for nearly ten generations. Growing up in a joint family, my childhood was spent in the lap of elders listening to various tales. I unknowingly developed a predilection for such stories and as far I can remember, I have never missed a chance to listen or read such tales from any possible sources. Later as I grew up, I started learning musical instruments and decided to pursue a formal education in music. I have graduated in music from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and have been researching local music since my time as a Master’s level student. As many of you already know, Nepali culture is highly interwoven with mythology and folk tales and researchers like myself encounter such stories no matter how uninterested they might be. For me, it has not only been a wonderful experience but an opportunity as well.

Around 2018, I tried to find a website dedicated to Nepali folklore and culture but I could not find any. I then decided to create something myself and thus, I have come up with this blog in hopes of archiving and serving enthusiasts with these fabulous tales. If you have similar interests and would like to contribute in any way, feel free to contact me.
